May 11

"We were looking for signs of Spring.  There was 'I see', 'I touch', 'I smell', 'I hear' and 'I taste' but we didn't do taste."
"We also wrote about what we saw and heard."
"We were writing stuff that we saw, heard, smelled and touched."
"We told our sit spot groups about what we heard, saw, touched and smelled."
"Some friends said they tasted wind."
"We were going on the balance beam stick."
"We jumped off the end of it."
"Me and friend in the woods we both had short sleeve space shirts, and they were black."
"The tree changed a lot because the tree didn't have leaves on it, but now it has light green leaves."
"She was hanging on a vine."
"We were sprinkling cinnamon and we were making bread."
"We had lucky weather because if it started raining we wouldn't get to make the bread."
"When I was at my sit spot I made a lollipop and when it was time for free choice I got it from my sit spot and showed my teacher.  I pretend it was a lollipop and I gave it to Kaya at her pretend birthday party."
"I was playing cookie relay.  It was really fun.  We had to get fake cookies with letters and scoop them up and then you had to go all the way to where you started and you try to spell the word.
A friend spelling words while playing cookie relay.
"The leaves had these little red things on them.  We weren't sure what they were."
"Me and my friends were doing ABC nature walk and we were writing what we saw.  We wrote it under the letter that it started with."

"We were eating lunch in the fort."
"We were writing about our trees."
"Mrs. Cramer let us find our favorite tree.  We had to draw what the tree looks like.  We did leave coloring and bark coloring."
"We colored in our tree and the tree that we had was two trees and they twisted together."

"There was green!"
"It is a maple sapling."

May 4th

"We were looking up at the trees and we were laying down and saw some buds on the trees."
"I pulled a log out of somewhere and saw a salamanders tail that looked like a stick and when I pulled it out it was a salamander."
"We saw green spots on the ground and that's a sign of spring."
"I found a fiddlehead that was on the ground and I picked it up so I could share it with my group. A fiddlehead turns into a fern."
"Our class was picking up wood pieces so we could make a fire for one of our activities."
"We were playing a game and I was able to get some bonus time with Ms. S. and we read some books."
"I found a stick that had buds on it and I wanted to plant it in the ground."
(Unfortunately the stick didn't make it in to the picture.)
"I found this branch on the tree and I swinged on it and it was fun."
"I was swinging from the branch."
"We were trying to get people up and down on a see saw."
"People kept getting off and moving to the other side and people kept jumping on and falling off.  When people got off and went on the other side there was less people on that side and more weight on the other."
"We were having a race of who could get the wood first, using chunks of wood that look like cookies."
"We had to find words in the cookies and we had to take one by one to make them."
"We had to carry them on a spatula."
"My friend and I were trying to find flowers on our list.  There were flowers on a tree so we could check them off our list."
"We were stirring some dough to make bread."
"We used flour, sugar, salt, water, oil and baking soda to make the dough."
"After we made them we cooked them over the fire."
"We wrapped the dough around the stick and then we cooked them."
"We were making paint brushes with sticks and other things like leaves and pine needles and used rubber bands to put it on sticks and then we got mud and painted."
"I was smashing a log and when I smashed it the last time a lot of fire ants came out."
"There were lots of fire ants and we were looking inside and Ms. Rasco pushed down the stump.  A friend found lots of fire ants."
"We stepped on a log and we stepped on those branches and then the branches held us up to stand on the tree."
"Everyone was taking turns doing it."

"It's a BEAUTIFUL day!" said one little kindergartener.

"I found green in the woods.  The green is a sign of spring."

"I made this game.  I used some sticks and stacked them on leaving some space.  To play the game people have to take away one stick at a time and try not to knock anything down.  I think it can have 10-12 players."
"We were playing at my friend's sit spot.  Whoever knocked down a stick first had to go out, and whoever was the last man standing with a stick in his hand got to sit in his stick spot."

"There was a big hole and I got a little stick and I dropped the stick down the hole and it fell out at the bottom."

"Miss Soule was seeing how high I could go up the tree."

"I was looking in my cup for bugs.  I put water in the cup from the stream.  But I did not seem to catch anything."

"They are looking in the stream and catching lots of things in the cup."

"I'm using the magnifying glass to look in the bucket to see what's inside the cup.  There was water and I saw leaves."

"We were putting boats down the stream."
"I was going to put a stick down a stream, and it poked my friend's boat."

"We were playing a game called 'Mr. Crocodile'."
"Friends were saying "Mrs. Crocodile ca we please cross the river?'  They said 'Mrs.' because she was a girl."

"Some poeple got to cross safely because they were wearing the color that the crocodile called.  If you weren't wearing the color the crocodile called you had to run across and not get tagged."

"When there was more than one crocodile we had to think together to pick a color."
"The crocodiles said "If you are wearing black you can cross our river"
"My friend was the only one left, and he got tagged because there were three of us."

"The person who is the  wolf is on something and the people who are not the wolf say "what time is it?" and the wolf says what time it is.  Then they take steps."
"When he says "dinner time" you run back and if you get tagged you're the wolf."

Waiting to hear from Mr. Fox.

"We were eating lunch in the warm sunshine."
